Many Baltimore residents may not be aware of this but Baltimore City hosted the first successful sit-in. In 1955 a group of Morgan University students forced the Read Pharmacy drug store chain to serve blacks at their lunch counters all over the city.

Over the course of the last few months, a hot and heavy debate has emerged around the Lexington Square Project pitting economic development against the preservation of historic civil rights landmark.  Good Jobs, Better Baltimore Campaign is holding a demonstration to protect and preserve our Civil Rights history.
