Human Rights Activists Hold Spirited Demonstration to Support Bradley Manning
Under a hot sun, with temperatures in the 90s, thousands of human rights activists participated in a highly-spirited demonstration at Fort Meade, MD, to support Bradley Manning, the U.S. Army private who stands accused of leaking State Department cables and the "Collateral Murder" video to Wikileaks. Manning, who has been held in custody under often harsh conditions for close to four years, faces a court-martial proceeding. The demonstration took place on Saturday, June 1, two days before his case goes to trial. Manning has already pled guilty to ten charges relating to the disclosure of government documents. If convicted on the remaining charges, he could spend the rest of his life in the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth. The Bradley Manning Support Network was the lead sponsor of the action.
