As parts of the Northeast remain in recovery from last week's Hurricane Sandy, many necessary conversations are emerging about the links between this hurricane and climate change. Prior to the hurricane, the mainstream media largely ignored the topic of climate change. We hope that the conversations continue. And we release this audio as a contribution to the crucial dialog.

In July of this year, Institute for Anarchist Studies and AK Press author, Javier Sethness-Castro, came to Red Emma's Bookstore Coffeehouse to present on the newly released fourth title in the highly-acclaimed Anarchist Intervention Series, Imperiled Life: Revolution Against Climate Catastrophe.

In Imperiled Life, Javier Sethness-Castro theorizes an exit from the potentially terminal consequences of capital-induced climate change. This proves to be both a collection of reflections on the phenomenon of catastrophe—climatological, political, social—as well as the possibilities of overcoming disaster.

Sethness-Castro presents the grim news from contemporary climatologists while providing a reconstructive vision inspired by anarchist intellectual traditions and promoting critical thought as a means of changing our historical trajectory.

We hope you will enjoy the audio from this highly important and timely event.
