Building Safe Spaces to Fight Oppression

Building Safe Spaces to Fight Oppression

Livestream video:
Workshop Description:

Bearings Bike Project is a women, transgender, and queer-run bicycle collective in Baltimore, that is set to open this Spring in the Waverly neighborhood. Our a workshop will focus on how safe spaces can function as a vehicle for educating, empowering, and fighting oppression. Through the workshop we hope to present Bearings as a model that uses creative approaches to bring people together through common interest (such as bicycling). We will show a short video, present our model, and then break out into small groups. We hope to inspire discussion and action with resources and ideas that people can take with them back to their own communities.
