The James McHenry Recreation Center, in the heart of Southwest Baltimore, was the scene of a gala celebration on Saturday afternoon, December 1, 2012. The United Workers, a human rights organization, which is "led by the poor to end poverty," celebrated its 10th anniversary of operating in the state of Maryland.

On Saturday afternoon, Nov. 17, 2012, the ANSWER Coalition, a national-based Peace & Justice group, staged a demonstration at Baltimore's Inner Harbor (McKeldin Square). It targeted Israel as a result of its recent bombings of Gaza, its assassination of a Hamas leader, and [at press time] its planned invasion of the Gaza Strip. Israel claims it has a "right to defend itself." Sharing their views at the rally on the issue of the Israel/Gaza clash were Andrew Castro of the ANSWER Coalition and activist Zahi Khamis.

On Thursday evening, Nov. 8, 2012, a rally to stop Governor Martin O'Malley from building a new youth jail facility in Baltimore City and instead to reallocate those funds ($104 million-plus) to a more constructive use, was held at the War Memorial Building. The Rev. Jesse Jackson, the noted civil rights leader, was the main speaker. He urged the governments to convene a plan to "build houses, not jails and to keep hope alive." Excerpts from Rev. Jackson's remarks are on this video.

Tom Dodge works for the U.S. Postal Service and is a union official. At a solidarity rally of union members and social justice activists to "save the Postal Service," held in Baltimore, MD, on Sunday, October 28, 2012, he shared his views on the ongoing campaign by the grasping 1% Gang to "privatize" the U.S. Postal Service.

Haitian-born musician, actor and producer, Wyclef Jean, was in Baltimore on Wednesday night, September 19, promoting his biography, Purpose: An Immigrant's Story. He gave a talk, performed some hip-hop/rap, conducted a Q&A session, and played his guitar before an audience of mostly Johns Hopkins University students in the Charles Commons building.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, September 11, 2012, union members and social justice activists protested in front of the Baltimore City School Headquarters, in Baltimore City. Their focus centered on decisions by the School's CEO Andres Alonso to discipline a school principal, Angela Faltz, and an assistant principal, Marcy Isaac, over alleged "cheating" at their school.

On Monday, April 16, 2012, at noon, on Capitol Hill, in Washington, D.C., there was a rally/march demanding the federal government close the "School of the Americas," renamed the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation. Twelve Anti-torture activists were arrested, in the street, opposite the Cannon Office Building while engaging in "nonviolent direct action."
