On Thursday evening, March 14, 2013, the Labor Committee of the Baltimore City Council held a hearing, at City Hall, on the issue on the contractual obligation of the Hyatt Regency Hotel “to honor its direct employment agreement with the City of Baltimore and to furthermore enter into a ‘Labor Peace Agreement’ at its Inner Harbor/Light Street Location.”

The Resolution, CC13-0095R, was sponsored by all the members of the City Council and it passed unanimously.

On Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 20, 2013, activists from CODEPINK, a Peace & Justice organization, staged a demonstration in the Atrium of the U.S. Senate Hart Office Building in Washington, D.C. In its press release, CODEPINK said it organized the action to show the growing grass roots opposition to the use of “killer drones and doubts about John Brennan.” Brennan is currently under consideration by the Congress for the post of CIA Director. On the evening of Feb. 21, 2013, a “prison chic”-styled party—aka “Prison Reception”—was held at the au courant Hays-Adams Hotel, in Washington, D.C., only blocks from the ex-Constitutional Law Professor Barack Obama’s White House.

The struggle for social justive is very much alive in the Baltimore region. On Dec. 10, activists, many of them senior citizens associated with the MD/DC "Alliance for Retired Americans," staged a demonstration in front of the district office of Rep. Elijah Cummings (Dem-MD-7th). They protested a potential deal to avert the so-called "fiscal cliff" that will benefit the parasitical 2% Gang at the expense of the working class, retirees and the poor. On Dec. 13, members of Unite Here, Local 7, along with social justice activists, rallied in support of the Hyatt Hotel workers. And on Dec 15, activists met in Columbia to launch a campaign for a "publicly funded, universal single-payer healthcare, an improved form of Medicare, that covers all Marylanders."

On the evening of Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, Social Justice & Peace activists staged a vigil in the historic Mount Vernon Place district of Baltimore City to end the wars. Featured on this video are Max Obuszewski and Sharon Black. The demonstration was sponsored by the Pledge of Resistance Baltimore.
