Video: Fox 45 News Reporter and Cameraman Assault Occupy Baltimore Participants

This past  Monday on Halloween eve, Occupy Baltimore participants were allegedly assaulted by Fox 45 News reporter Melinda Roeder and her cameraman (unable to identify) as they were producing a story on a dispute between participants that was occurring and being mediated privately at the McKeldin Square site.

According to witness accounts, there had been a dispute between a couple in one of the tents on location. Nearby participants saw the Fox 45 crew approaching the tent and created a human wall in front as a form of nonviolent protest to protect the individuals' privacy and deny media filming. It was at this point that the news reporter forcefully attempted to gain access to the tent by assaulting the individuals making the wall. The assaulted Occupy Baltimore participants quickly went to police, who had been on site prior, to report the incident.

According to those assaulted, the police advised them to file charges against Melinda Roeder and her cameraman. Many on site had felt that the Fox 45 news crew were not actually reporting on any story in particular, but rather were seeking to manufacture a story. The police at McKeldin Square declined to comment about the incident, and Fox 45 News was unable to be reached.
